Help out a makeup-ignorant girl...

I know, I know. I'm 28 years old. There's really no excuse for this kind of ignorance... but I really don't know what color eyeshadow to wear.

I need to do a smokey eye... I don't need to know the mechanics of how to do it, but I need to know what colors to use.

I have very light, bright blue eyes, and fair skin. Brown hair, like a chesnutty color.

O ladies of the hallowed Fashion and Beauty board, what do you recommend??? I have like 1200 and something posts, and this is my first time posting on the Fashion and Beauty board, that should tell you something Chat Icon

There are eyeshadow kits you can buy at RiteAid, Duane Reade, etc. that show you exactly how to do a smokey eye. Check out these by Almay:Smoky Eye

Ditto to the 2 above..I like Revlon's 12 hour shadows too..

I also suggest a good primer as well.. it'll make the shadow stay and not crease.

Basically, you take the neutral color and sweep it across the entire eyelid. then take the darkest and apply it in the outer corner of your eye and blend going inward.. then take a little more of the base color and blend it into the darker color, applying more of the darker until you've acheived the smokey color you want.. then take the lightest color and apply it to the brow bone.. hope that makes sense..

I also like to apply eye liner and a little eyeshadow to my lower eyelashes.. then curl and apply your mascara.

hope that makes sense.. I know I typed it fast.

ELF also has nice easy kits that are cheap to try out and the quality is pretty decent.

I love how a lavender smoky look goes with blue eyes.
