HELP! shes been up since 6:30AM and acting weird...
Ok, Gracie ALWAYS sleeps until 8:30 or 9AM. She went to bed normal time last night (9PM). BUT when she went to bed she started screaming so we let her CIO (We have been doing CIO/feber-going in every few minutes to comfort/reassure since she was about 9 months old and it worked for us). Anyway, she fell asleep after me having to go i three times. Some of you may be like (I know a lot of you are going through sleep issue stuff) but we never had this issue with Gracie. We go in once and she falls asleep.
So this AM she wake up at 6:30AM screaming bloody murder. I thought she fell out of the toddler bed or worse. So I jump out of bed, my heart racing an find her in her bed pointing to the ceiling, screaming and heaving crying like she was terrified. WTH?
So then, I take her out of the bed and she starts even worse and I try putting her back to bed, rocking her to sleep, giving her water, rubbing her back, nothing is working, everything I did made it worse.
So she calms down a bit and I ask her if sshe is ready for breakfast, she says "She mommy, I want yogurt". OK, I out her in the highchair and get her yogurt out. She then screams "me do, me do" like she needs to open this yogurt. OK, I let her. SHe needs help and says "mommy help me" So I open it. Well, than was the end iof it. a full on tantrum for 25 minutes. I put on sesame street and let her eat yogurt in her elmo chair instead of the highchair. She is calmer now, but still doing this heaving / heaving breathing almost cry thing (like she is still scared, but going along with being awake under protest) and if I go near her she SCREAMS. MAybe she needs alone time?
Any advice would be great she Gracie NEVER acts like this and I am always able to comfort her. She is such a good kid and I have never seen her act like this, NEVER. I know she may be overtired, but even so when she is over tired she does not throw a 1/2 hour tantrum. Help! TIA
ETA: No fever. No rash. Nothing physically that I can see that is making her act this way.

It could just be... nothing!! She may have had a nightmare or just can't sleep. DD went through this a time or two. Sometimes it would last one or two nights and then go away completely. Watch to make sure she is not pulling at her ears, etc for an infection. But she might just be A-OK

She probably just woke up on the wrong side of bed. My DD had a full out tantrum yesterday after her nap and she NEVER acted like that EVER so we were like what the...I didn't know how to handle it. I think it's just the age...and them waking up on the wrong side of bed. Mine is having another one as we speak.

That is probably what it was. She ate 2 adult sized yogurts this morning (She usually eats only one)...maybe she was really hungry and upset b/c of that? who knows.

Sounds like she had a night terror- it takes them a really long time to be themselves again

sounds like it may have been a night terror. Andrew gets them sometimes. I always feel so bad for him. He acts like someone was attacking him or something

Well, it could be nothing. She could have had a nightmare and then decided to act like a normal 2 year old. HOWEVER, this is exactly how Ava acts when she's getting sick. Like she doesn't know what she wants. She never throws tantrums unless she's getting sick. A couple of weeks ago when she had a double ear infection, she had no signs of it for three days except for a horrible disposition of throwing things, screaming, hitting me, etc. Three days later, she was telling me her ears hurt and the doc confirmed a double ear infection. JUst something to consider if it continues another day or so.

same here, it is so scary and there is nothing you can do to help. I found that "sometimes" familiar music helped to get him out of it.

I guess that is what it was. Rach - I will be on the lookout for her pulling at her ears too.
Thanks LAdies.
I have 2 more hours until nap time and I get to nap too! THANK GOD!!!!
