Help! Sunroof leaking!!!
My sister just called me in a panic -
She's at school, and her sunroof is leaking a LOT - she doesn't know what to do for it.
We don't have a garage for her to park it in - its an older car and no dealership is involved, not to mention the fact that she doesn't have the $ to fix it rght now.
Does anyone know offhand if there is something sold in an auto parts store than can temporarily fix this problem?
We're expecting heavy rain through the night, so she's pretty worried. Other than putting a tarp over it tonight, what would you do?
Thanks

Re: Help! Sunroof leaking!!!
They might sell something at an auto supply store. They have weather stripping for older cars where it has fallen off, but I am not sure it will work for a sunroof,
What kind of car is it? How old?

Re: Help! Sunroof leaking!!!
Autobarn just told me to use to apoxy to temporarily glue it shut...then once it stops raining, use a razor blade to remove the apoxy.
She said that she can get it fixed properly next week....but not now.
I don't know anything about this - does that sound right?

hmmmm. I would tell her to go to pep boys or to Auto Barn, They usually have things like that in stock. She may want to cover it for extra security overnight though.

I am not sure if I would do that. You can damage the car trying to scrape it off. I am surprised they did not just try to give you some rubber to line the roof with....

Re: Help! Sunroof leaking!!!
Shorty...when I was younger a friend of mine had this car that the sunroof leaked everytime it rained..we used to go out in the car all the time so on rainy nights we would stop for saran wrap and some sort of tape and we would seal the window that way...now I am talking about a very tiny car, and I am not sure if this would even work nowadays but if the auto places do not sell anything , at least it might limit the wetness ...If it is a fast leak though it may not do any good..hth a little

Re: Help! Sunroof leaking!!!
is it leaking elsewhere or just around the sunroof or in other parts?
mine was leaking because the tubes that prevent leaking were clogged with leaves - if she has been leaving her sunroof open that might be why.
