HELP! We created a monster!!
Ok, so a couple of weeks ago Alex went peepee on the potty. Once. And only once. And then never again.
But, last night, she decided to do it again, at around 5pm. Silly DH, instead of giving her a tiny cookie, he gave her a big chunk of Halva instead. The kid gobbled it up as she looked at us, eyes wide with wonderment. Apparently, she likes Halva.
So much so, that she ran to the potty every 10 minutes for the next 2 hours. The kid forced herself to peepee 6 times in 2 hours so she could get more halva.
Um, yeah, ok, so she knows how to use the potty, but I can't keep substituting Halva for lunch and dinner! What do I do??????????

Tell her that she can have a big piece for dessert if she goes the whole day with a dry diaper.
Now that you know she can do it you have to try and stretch it out.
On a side note I did the same thing when I was younger. My mom used m&m's. I would go a little and then hold it in. Then I would ask to go again 2 minutes later and I would go the whole day like that.

That's EXACTLY what she was doing! Leads me to believe she is a little more saavy than I realized, and knew all along how to hold it in and use the potty, but just wasn't willing to until the reward was good enough!

Ah, yes. My kid caught on quickly to the M&M and Hershey kiss treats... He was poopy potty trained at 2.5 and then fully by 3. We just went with it.

Re: HELP! We created a monster!!
We started spacing the rewards out more. After DC figures out that one time = one reward, say "Now that you're doing so well, and are such a big girl, you can get a reward after you go two times without having an accident."
Keep bumping that up, until you give just one reward at the end of the day. Once it's a daily reward, there is no more benefit to going 18 times a day. If you keep emphasizing that it's because she is doing so well, and being so big, they see it as a step up, and not being punished by getting half as many treats.
If nothing works, I guess you'll need to figure out how to pack enough Halva to send her off to college for a semester!

Hmmm.... guess I'll be calling Safta for a care package with a lifetime supply of Halva You don't understand my kid. When it comes to food, she's a maniac. No matter how I frame it, she'll see it as punishment and likely regress
