Help with finding a restaurant in Manhattan...
We are going out to dinner in NYC next week and are trying to find a place that has American cuisine (a steakhouse type place) but isn't too pricey, and is more of a bar scene..we plan on staying and having beers after. We could always head somewhere else after dinner I guess, but hoped to stay put.
Any suggestions?? TIA!

Re: Help with finding a restaurant in Manhattan...
if you are willing to go to Tribeca, City Hall is great.
traditional american, GREAT bar.
and you are in luck, b/c it's restaurant week next week and they are participating.
I took the liberty of looking up "american traditional" for restaurant week and THIS is what came up (if it doesn't, just search under cuisine)
I suggest City Hall b/c I've been there a few times. they have a GREAT raw bar too.
there are also a TON listed under "new american"
I would definitely take advantage of the RW discount rather than go to a chain.
on the flip side, the Houston's on PAS also has a pretty busy bar scene.
have fun.

Houston's - midtown or Park Avenue S. (renamed Hillstone b/c of the calorie laws ) but same food and still yummy
Connelly's Irish Pub - multiple locations; yummy food, definitely a bar scene, very casual
Bar Americain - Bobby Flay - little pricey though but the food is delish!

i love all those places! i don't know how much you consider "reasonable" but i would recommend searching nymag.com, zagat, or citysearch for some more ideas and descriotions too. chowhound often has great opinions posted
isn't restaurant week this week and next? if so, check it out b/c sometimes you can get good prix fixe deals!
hey what's this about houstons/hillstone????
