help with FL travel situation

We're driving to FL because my hubby doesnt want to fly.
Not sure what days, but it wil most likely be 2 weeks before mem day weekend, but we're staying 2 weeks, so our checkout date will be the Sat of mem day weekend.

Now would you
A)
drive right through to head home that saturday. Is traffic as bad coming up north? Doesnt everyone wanna go south that weekend? Chat Icon

B)
I was thinking drive half way, stop somewhere for the rest of the weekend to get home sunday nite/monday.

c)
just staying in FL until after mem day weekend, wll just mean DEFINITELY driving back with the traffic who went for that weekend only.

help! any ideas? Chat Icon
Are there any places at a half way point that might not be as crowded but still nice to go? I looked at Hiton head, jam packed (hotels that I checked).

I say B. Driving down we were able to go the whole way, but coming home we were way more tired & needed to stop in N Carolina for a nap.

I think if you drive at all through the weekend, you are going to hit traffic..especially since it's such a long drive.
If you could wait until Tuesday to drive up, that's what I would do. If not...just go for it and come straight through...at least during the night there will be very little traffic.

Re: help with FL travel situation

anna,
I would suggest driving thru the night on the way down... like leave at 3 or 4 in the afternoon and drive right thru if you can
and on the way back start out in the morning.. you'll probably hit the most traffic up in delaware, new jersey and thru new york so at least you'll be doing it late at nite!!
We're doing this trip in August... have fun!!

Re: help with FL travel situation

thanks for the advice guys!
Kristi-those are the exact times we were planning to leave/head back, so let's see what happens. I didnt wanna leave here TOO late or TOO early, so at least we hope to get there in time to rest up before the next day at the parksChat Icon
