Help with kitten and cat intro

Within the last week I brought home a kitten. The problem I am having is my adult cat (14) stopped eating. She is fine with the kitten (she does not want to be bothered) but did not eat a thing today. The only time I have them together is when I am home, the other time the kitten is in a separate room. What can I do to ease my cats problems?

I would keep an eye on the older cat and if she isnt eating in a few days, call the vet and have her checked. But I think in a day or so she will eat. I know its scary, but cats sometimes will refuse to eat when they are stressed or traumatized. She will eat soon though.

Good luck with everything!Chat Icon

Re: Help with kitten and cat intro

Please keep an eye on the older cat, if she doesn't eat in the morning take her to the vets, cats dehydrate very quickly.

Unfortunately it is not really an ideal situation to bring a kitten into a house with a cat that is as old as your other one, older cats do not react well to change.

If the older cat eats in the morning I would still call your vet and ask to speak to the vet, not a nurse and ask his/her advice as to what to do.

I don't mean to sound critical or anything like that, I just know from experience that it can be very difficult. Good luck and please let me know how you get on Chat Icon

Thanks for advice..I do not understand her behavior because she always lived with other cats (and new kittens ) and dogs and never had a problem. Maybe i spoil her to much.
