Help with scheduling for birthday party please

We are having Tyler's First Birthday Party start at 2pm.

I figured I would have the petting zoo and pony rides come at 3pm - until 4pm.

Then I am having an entertainment company come. They do face painting, a puppet show, singing, and then Elmo. I figured I would have them start at 4 when the Petting Zoo ends.....

OR

Would you overlap the two and have them start at 3:30?

I would overlap-this way kids have stuff to occupy them while they wait their turn for the ride.

Sounds like a kids fantasy birthday partyChat Icon Chat Icon

That's what I was thinking bc the second would start with the face painting so at least the kids aren't forming a huge line. Maybe I will have them come at 3:45 to start the activites. SO Confusing! Chat Icon

I was happy with the petting zoo but then we went to a party last weekend and Ty went nuts for Elmo so of course my mother was like "You have to have him come" Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

i think 3:45 is good for face painting, but I would make sure the puppet show starts after 4 pm.

THAT'S SOME PARTY.

I would have the entertainment company come at 2:30 (or even 2:15) and the petting zoo stuff at the end. What are you going to do with the people that arrive on time (we are generally the first to arrive at parties)? If the kids need to wait an hour or 2 before any type of entertainment, they might get bored and cranky. Not all kids are into animals and might be frightened of them, especially if you have a younger crowd. This way, if a family wants to leave early, they won't miss out on the entertainment Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Help with scheduling for birthday party please

I would also do the entertainment about a half hour after the start time of the party. It gives people a chance to be a little late, without making the kids who got there on time wait too long. And maybe you can have the food in between the entertainment. So something like this...
2pm start time
2:30pm petting zoo
3:30-4:00 eating
4:00-5:00 entertainment company
5:00-5:30 cake and send them on their merry way!

I wouldn't overlap unless you have a large number of children & you're breaking them into groups.

Maybe start one at 3:45pm that way the children that have finished up, can go to the other activity?
