To remove the smell of garlic from your hands, rub them on a stainless steel surface.

Instead of scrubbing a pan with burned on food, add water to the pan and put it back on the burner... once it boils the food will come right off!

Totally going to try this. I'm currently at war with a stupid grill pan that I made chicken on. The marinade stuck to the pan like crazy. Thanks for the tip!

Re: Helpful Hints

If you're cooking anything with a really strong odor that is likely to "hang out" in the kitchen long after you're eating, keep a bowl with some vinegar in it next to the stove while you're cooking. It will absorb the smell.

To kill germs on your sponge (a breeding ground for them), nuke it in the microwave for 15 seconds after each use.

If your microwave smells like the last thing you used it for (popcorn, etc.), squeeze a lemon into a bowl and microwave it for a few seconds (10-15). It will smell fresh afterwards.

To clean your George Foreman grill, use a wet paper towel when still hot to wipe off stuck on stains. Be careful though with your fingertips! Chat Icon

Re: Helpful Hints

If you "accidentally" burned something and want to get the smokey smell out of the air, burn a vanilla scented candle.
