Help...how can i comfort Rocky since my dad's ill

As you all know, Rocky is my dad's stalker. He loves him UNCONDITIONALLY

Anyway, my dad has been ill(depression) for the past 3 months and although he tries to pay the same amount of attention to Rocky, he just cant....

I feel as if Rocky knows hes ill. Rocky is now "making sure my dads ok" by staring at him for hours....When my dads not home, its Rockys"turn to sleep and be off duty" so he's been sleeping a lot and whimpering a lot in his sleepChat Icon

I feel so bad. Rocky spends his day "taking care of my dad" or sleeping....

We ALL try to play with him at all hours of the day and he only plays for a minute, then runs to whatever room my dad is in....
We try to take him for a walk, and he wont budgeChat Icon He'll only go if my dad takes him....

Should we take him to the vet....

Awwww Chat Icon That is so sad / cute. I dunno, maybe your dad likes having him around all the time? I don't think there is any way to convince Rocky to leave your dad alone somewhat... maybe the vet can give him some sort of antidepressant (Rocky?)

They say animals do bring a great deal of comfort, and I can vouch for that...hope your dad gets well soon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I don't know.

How long has Rocky been acting like that? Since your father became ill? Or was it more recent?

My only advice would be to forcibly take him out for a walk (pick him up and put him outside).

Do as many activities out of the home as possilbe. So he won't be so focussed on your dad.
I know it's hard w/ a F/T job.
Even if to just walk him around Petco on a work night.
