HELP..Looking in Nassau/W. Suffolk...under 400k

DH & I are currently looking hopefully for a house w/ a legal apt or a m/d under 400K.

We're currently renting in Lindenhurst & are looking here, what are some other areas that would be a good place to look.

Unfortunately I work in Woodside, so I can't go much further East than I currently am....we're open to North Shore too.

Thx.

also besides: mlsli.com, realtor.com, newsday.com what are some other good sites to look?

Try Amity Harbor and Copiague South of Montauk. I just bought a house in Amityville, and trust me, b/c I have looked, there are no houses under 400 that you would live in b/c of condition or location. MLSLI is a good source, but try Coldwellbanker.com, aboveboardrealestate.com, century21.com, and others. good luck!

ditto. There are plenty of areas in Nassau with nice homes (some with apt) under 400K. When we were looking back in 2006, there were a batch in Levittown, Hicksville, etc.

West Babylon has a ton for under $400K (I'm always on MLSLI and dreaming of the day I'll own a home). Sunday is Newsday's big Real Estate section too and since you're in Lindenhurst, you'll get the Babylon Edition of Long Island Life and that is where the goods are.

Good luck!!

MLSLI is your best bet, but you can also try newsday on friday, thats the day of the real estate section.
I would try looking in farmingdale, levittown, w. babylon, amityville... mostly the towns mentioned here!
South Shore tends to be cheaper than the north shore, unless you are willing to look further east in suffolk.

The first one is only 2 BR, which won't help her at all.

The second one is in horrendous condition. It needs about $65,000 worth of work, maybe more.

We closed on our house in March in Amity Harbor. We LOVE IT HERE!!!! It is a beautiful waterfront community. We love the beach and water practically in our backyard. We are getting a boat to enjoy the waterway, next block over. We are not crazy about the schools but it is our first house and fell in love with the area. We will worry about it down the line. Good Luck!!!!Chat Icon
PS we looked for anything south shore in Nassau, Wantagh, Seaford, Massapequa, and unless you are willing to get a total fixer upper it was not worth it for me to live in Nassau> I now have a beautiful split level home that does not need anything but an inground pool that is by choice next year. :) Best of luck wherever you are looking!!

Sorry..edited to say we bought the house with a M/D too. We rent it out for extra cash for now and it is great!!
