Here we go again, more kids playing w/ guns...
(05/11/05) HUNTINGTON - Suffolk County police say a 13-year-old boy was shot and killed Tuesday night while he and a friend were handling a rifle at a Huntington home.
Police say they received a call about the shooting just before 8p.m. When they arrived, they say they found Christian DeMaio dead inside the house with a gunshot wound to his head.
DeMaio lived on Leyden Street in Huntington. Police say he and a friend who lived at the house on Sherwood Drive were looking at a point-22 caliber rifle when it went off.
So far, police have not filed any charges but they say the investigation is continuing.

Seriously, it's hard not to be judgemental when stuff like this happens. What the hell is wrong with some of these parents?

OMG, that's horrible.
The kids were "looking" at it and it went off? That's parent negligence if you ask me... why was the rifle accesible to kids?????

That's horrible.
If you are gonna keep a gun in the house - lock it up in a safe - there are plenty of low cost, hi-tech devices to keep guns from kids.

that really makes me mad that a parent lets a rifle be in the house where the kids can reach it and than this happens.

yeah..i saw this last night as a breaking news report...
i blame the parents .. kids will always be curious but its the parents to teach the kids about bad stuff (guns) and to make sure this bad stuff stays away from them

I saw this last night on the news. It is such a sad thing to happen. That's why I hate guns in the house.

Omg, that is so horrible. Why would you have a rifle in the house, and if you had to, WHY ISN'T IT LOCKED UP????

I felt sick when I heard that last night! People with guns need to keep them in a safe place! What were the parents thinking?
