Hernia Operations
Anyone's DH have a hernia operation? If so, did he have it laproscopically (sp.?) or the other way? How long was recovery - lying down not able to do things recovery time? I know it will take a while to be able to get back to a normal routine either way.
DH has to have it done and is going back and forth about which way to do it.
TIA!

Re: Hernia Operations
Yes, in November. It was outpatient surgery, and it was done lap (sp?).
He was really in pain for three days, but that was pretty much it. He had to take it easy for a few weeks (no heavy lifting) and was back to work in six weeks. He decided to take the entire time the doc told him to, but he was really back to himself in around four weeks.

Re: Hernia Operations
What kind of hernia?? My late husband had an umbilical one repaired the semi-old fashion way... they made a small incision and worked through that... The recovery wasnt bad, especially considering how beaten up his body was....

Re: Hernia Operations
DH had a double hernia operation. It was done lap, and he only took a couple days off of work. it was outpatient and for about 24 hours it was hard for him to get up and down, bending his abdomen was hard.
but after about 3 days he was fine,
no heavy lifting for a few weeks
