Need to order heroes and wraps for an outdoor birthday party in september.
has anyone ever ordered from costco or bjs? which one do you like better? why?
also, what about potato salad, cole slaw, etc? which store do you prefer?
thanks!

I agree with PP. Try King Kullen. They have great deals on heros and wrap platters and they use all Boars Head

I agree with both PP. has to be BH and supermarkets are usually cheaper than local delis. But local delis usually have better salads. (Seaford deli!!). Supermarkets have icky pre-made bucket stuff.

I had a hero from BJS and it was awful. Definitely go for the boars head somewhere else!

I agree too. King Kullen has boars head and it is usually great. If you are located anywhere near Port. Jeff Station Buttercup has a great price too.

If you have a Handy Pantry near by...they have BH and make really affordable heros.

IMO, Boars Head just tastes better and is of a much higher quality than other brands. The texture of the cold cuts is better (the cheese isn't "waxy" feeling like cheaper brands) and they aren't loaded up with salt. If you don't have a King Kullen by you, how about a Stop 'N Shop? They carry Boars Head, too. If not, most delis carry the Boars Head line.

Agree with PP's only Boars Head cold cuts. Stop & Shop and Fairway sell Boars Head.

This! IMO, they are the only cold cut you can trust to be somewhat not disgusting! In fact, I don't think I've ever been in a deli that did not use Boars Head!

I am generic girl all the way, but with cold cuts you can see and taste a huge difference so that is why I only will eat Boar's Head.

I ordered from BJs before and it was very bland. I would go to an Italian Market or something better.

thanks for the info ladies. i grew up eating Polish cold cuts, so have a completely different taste when it comes to cured meats.
i'm thinking I may just make my own (if the price is comparable) and use Polish cold cuts.

Re: heroes and wraps - costco or bj's?
Another vote AGAINST bj wholesale. The heroes was bland and what they dont tell you is that they do not cut it up beforehand. the bread is so soft that it is a disaster if you do not have a sharp enough knife. And obviously if you are ordering you want the extra effort of cutting it up I would never do it again.
