Hershey
What are your favorite things to do around Hershey Park with little kids? Any places better than Hershey within a few hours? Any hotel recommendations? Thank you!

We stay at the Courtyard by Mariott Chocolate Ave.
It's basic but brand new, clean and modern.
We don't do much around the area- there is so much to do between Hershey Park, the water park, and the Chocolate Factory that that's all we have time for.
How old are your kids? If they are younger, Dutch Wonderland is much more manageable and great for the younger kids.
And you can stay at Best Western Eden which is like a day of fun in itself with their pool and splash area.

I agree with PP. So much to do in Hershey itself.
I forgot where we've stayed, but it was about 5 - 10 minutes down the road from Hersheypark.
We didn't stay in the park. It was pretty expensive.
The hotel is fine for just sleeping in and having breakfast. They usually have a complementary breakfast in the morning, which is perfect.
We usually do one night with the boys and did 2 nights once.
You get the preview night the night before for a couple of hours and I'm telling you we get to do so many rides bc it does seem to empty out. THe next morning we are there all day and get the meal tickets.
We stay till about 7 - 8PM and then head home. We are only about 2 hours away so it's not bad.
The first year we went the boys were 4 and 6 and we did the museum and other stuff in the area.
What we do for the one night is get there in the afternoon and do Chocolate World for a couple of hours. Then we go to dinner locally. There's a great brewery we go to that the food is good. We go back after dinner to Hershey where we get dessert and go on rides. Next day we go early and stay at the park from opening till maybe 6 - 7'ish, stop back at Hershey World and then go home.

we ate at Troeg's Brewery with our 7 and 4 year olds last year.. SO SO good!!! great food, lots of unique options, but still laid back and kid-friendly with stuff they'll eat, too. LOL
we also did the zoo, Hershey Gardens, Crystal Caves.... we didn't even go into Hershey park because it was spring break so they weren't open yet

Nell-How far away is the hotel from Hershey?
Is the open hours the night before 2 1/2 hours or 3 1/2 hours? The website says 2 1/2 and when you click for additional information it says 3 1/2 lol. Do you need to pay for parking both days in a row?
Does the zoo count for being open for the hours too?
What is the boardwalk?
How far away is Hershey World to Hershey Park to the zoo?
Is the water park in Hershey Park itself?
Anyone know any of these answers or have any other tips? Thanks for everything!

Yes, you have to pay to park both days.
The Boardwalk is the water park area within the park and yes it's right inside the park.
I think the zoo entrance is in the park too but I am not sure as we didn't have time to go.
But I think I remember your admission includes the zoo so it must be in there.
Chocolate World is just outside the park- you can take a shuttle there- that same shuttle takes you to and from the parking lot as it's a huge walk

I went last year for the first time and we stayed in a cabin at the campground. We loved it. We spent 2 nights. Swam the first day and then did preview. 2nd we did park all day but mostly water rides. Left early the next morning cause we had a back to school event but we originally were going to swim again

We just spend the whole time at Hershey, Chocolate World, and the hotel pool. We stay at the Springhill Suites - right up the road form the entrance. The rooms can sleep more than the Courtyard - two queens or a king and a pull out couch and there is free breakfast (which isn’t great but the kids love it ???????)
We really like eating at the Chocolate Avenue Grill and Dukes Bar and Grill.
The preview is 2.5 hours before park close except when they close at 11 - then it’s 3.5 hours. If you are staying at a Hershey Resort you get an extra hour - and you get in an hour before opening in the morning. And they offer shuttle busses so you don’t have to pay for parking.

No - indoor. I think the Hotel Hershey has a nice outdoor pool.
Yes they do! But they are SOOO expensive in the summer and I couldn't justify it when we are spending all day in the parks so we went with the Courtyard. It's fine, we just always enjoyed the outdoor pool at Eden so we got spoiled

Hershey Hotel has an indoor pool and an outdoor pool with a water slide. It's a big more pricey, but I didn't find it unreasonable. We booked early and they're running a special on tickets right now (though I think that ends today).
Hershey Lodge has an indoor pool and other indoor water attractions.
