Hey CS - do you think we could add a block feature?
So that users could block other users from seeing/responding to their posts?

I'd like this too. And to be able to block so I don't see posts made by a username.

I actually think that's sad that you think that's what it's come to. I learn a lot from people here. Even the people who I think are really ignorant and completely closed minded usually end up teaching me something. Sometimes I learn the most from the people that have the complete opposite perspective than I do and sometimes there delivery is far from good.

Doesn't that negate the whole purpose of using a public chatboard? In that case, this may not be the place for you. You would be better off just posting on FB where you can control your audience, or creating a private FB group.

Someone told her to go back to her country. I don't blame her, TBH.

I disagree. Twitter is public but has options for blocking. Sometimes you engage in a space and become party of that community and then after some time something happens that doesn't make you want to leave entirely but tighten your bubble to keep yourself safe emotionally. Like being told to leave and go back to my country despite the fact that I'm married to an American and have two American children.

I get that but I still think there is something to be learned, or perhaps taught. Perhaps that person will now sleep on this and think about it and change their perspective. You never know.

Nobody here is my teacher or my parent. I choose to engage when and how I want to, and I see nothing wrong with wanting to keep a space that I've been part of for years safe for myself.

But again, I think Twitter, ( I've never used, so don't know) is in the same category as FB, Instagram, etc... LIF is a message board, antiquated in this day and age as we know. If you post here, it's because you want everyone to see what you wrote and interact with everyone. That's what this format is for. There are tons of other platforms where you can do what you are describing. Not for nothing, if something that a stranger on a message board says to you hurts you that much emotionally, well.. you probably shouldn't be using social media at all. I didn't see the post where someone said you should go back to where you came from, I don't look at the political threads anymore, I assume it was there. I'm sorry someone here said that to you. MUCH worse has been said to me, so I get it, but you can't little silly little things get to you. ( on here anyway) It is disgusting how rude people on here are being to each other.

Twitter is public unless you have a locked account. And not wanting to engage with someone doesht mean I shouldn't be able to use this space. We'll have to disagree on this. I think in this day and age it makes total sense to update forums to allow for blocking. Most online forums have some sort of feature that allows for it.

Other message boards have this feature.

Well just like everyone is complaining about having a separate board for politics, the same can be said here. If you don't like something/someone just don't read it.

And what about when someone who has attacked you in the past comes on to YOUR posts and comments or continues attacking? I've seen it happen many times.

Someone actually said go back to your country in a harmful manner?? WTF. Can people just be civil. Everyone has their own opinions and should act like an adult. Wow

lululu is not implying that anyone is your teacher or your parent only that we all as human beings can learn SOMETHING from each other even from those whom we may consider ignorant based on things they have said, they way they express themselves etc.
Why be so defensive and harsh to a post t hat was made with good intention (referring to lululu's post not the one that said you should go back to your country if you were not happy here).
