Hey Reggie.....A friend of mine is visiting Little Shelter this Saturday

Is there anyone that she should talk to specifically about which dog would be best as a companion to her Mini Pin?

Should she bring her Mini Pin with her to see which dogs socialise well with him?

Just from experience with Little Shelter, if she finds a dog she's interested in, they will have a meeting set up with the two dogs to make sure they get along. I wouldn't suggest bringing the min pin to see the dogs just yet because you walk down the halls and go to different houses to see all the dogs.

OK, she is just nervous b/c she went to NSAL & of course found a dog that she loved. She told them that she was going to go home to get her daughter & her dog & that she'd BRB. Well of course when she returned the dog she wanted was gone, since they do not "hold" dogs.

Thanks for the advice!Chat Icon

The adoption process is completely different between the two places. Little Shelter is much more "hands on" when screening applicants. But, this has only been my experience.

ITA, and although I never discourage anyone from adopting I was trying to get her to not go to NSAL. Well she went & they showed her a terrier mix. Sure enough when I called & asked about it they told me that it was not a Pit mix, but a Staffy. Although I know there is a distinct difference in breeds, I am wondering how they can be so positive about the nature of the breed from a stray. As puppies the 2 breeds are VERY similar looking. Anyway she knows she is not an experienced enough dog owner yet to train a Pit or Staffy, so she did not adopt from them. Plus they were "rushing" her to make a choice.

I prefer Little Shelter for many reasons, but their attention to adoptive families is one of the best.

I got my wonderful furbabies from NSAL.
But on personal note, I prefer to steer people away from NSAL. There are better shelters out there.

ETA- Little Miss Ava(in my avatar) is looking for a good home. She is at a wonderful shelter in Queens. For more info, fm me.
