HGTV - House Hunters...
Does anyone else think it is weird that the buyer always decides on the street/car and sign the paperwork there too....It's the weirdest thing!

Re: HGTV - House Hunters...
I heard from someone who had a friend who was on the show that you are already in contract. You look at the house you are in contract on and 2 others. That's why usually the house they pick is the empty one of the 3, they must film after closing but before they move in.

Re: HGTV - House Hunters...
But there have been episodes wherein the prospective buyers decide to stay put. Does that mean that their contract fell through?

Re: HGTV - House Hunters...
yep, I watch it every night at 7:30PM. There was a young couple who was renting a house and needed to get out by a certain date. It turns out that the landlord ended up not selling so the couple stayed renting with the option to buy.

Re: HGTV - House Hunters...
def. House Hunters. Like I said earlier, I watch it every night at 7:30PM on HGTV. I love Susan Wong. I love the episodes that show young couples. I just checked the episode guide it doesn't tell you which house they choose.

Re: HGTV - House Hunters...
I love these shows, but I see very little of them because DH finds them depressing. Our co-op sale has not been going well at all, and I guess they just remind him that we are in no position to buy at this point.
Yeah, I figured they had already chosen. They also never seem to find anything funky or truly odd, do they? Like mold on the ceiling, cat urine stench, nasty toilets, a person sleeping in a basement apartment, etc. I suppose only nicer homes are shown, though I think I'd prefer a show that showed some more realistic homes.
The one thing that bugs me about the show are some of the nit-picky little things people complain about. This one woman was standing in a HUGE walk-in closet, bigger than our bathroom, and complained that it was too small! But, they aren't looking in LI usually.

I agree! I can't stand the people who say 'Oh I hate this paint color.' and actually would consider not getting the house because of a paint color. Paint can be changed, moron!

Re: HGTV - House Hunters...
I think I saw one House Hunters where they decided not to buy - but it had to have been at least 3 years ago. The contract falling through sounds reasonable or they were just a friend of the producers and they needed people for the first few shows?

No, it was definitely House Hunters. In one of the episodes where it happened the woman was in a wheelchair and wanted a bigger place but ended up staying put after viewing 3 places because she had already done so many changes to her condo and decided it would take too much $$ to outfit another place.
