Hi I'm New Here

I haven't started to TTC because I have lot's of questions. I'm older and feel like I don't have a lot of time. I'm recently married and we are thinking about starting to try soon. Any words of advise ladies? I also have a stomach condition that I don't know if things will change or not when I get PG.

Where should I start? TIA. Also I'm not new to this site, just to this board, but want my privacy for right now. Chat Icon

I love your screen name btw...
Where to start... you can go out and get OPK's to let you know when you're Oing, which is really helpful to myself....

Best of luck!

I'm a temper myself - I like seeing what affects my temp and how (ie drinking, exercise, etc). It just all seems to make sense to me.

You may want to go by Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Wechsler - very informative book!

I will keep this in mind. I guess I should find out when I "O" first?

Sounds like a good book to read. Thank you! Chat Icon

It should tell you on the box depending on how long your cycle is!

Temping will help you determine that for sure - but only after it's happened. Your temperature will rise after you've ovulated.

I went off BCP for a few months before we were going to even start TTC, so there wasn't really pressure for me to know when I ovulated that first month - I just temped a few cycles and a pattern emerged. But you might want to try a combination of OPKs and temping so that you'll know when O is coming and then your temp will be your confirmation that it happened!

Re: Hi I'm New Here

I temped at first which made me realize i had a very slight themal shift then I stopped temping. For me it was too much of a PITA.

I would recommend keeping track of your cycles and CM and temping in your first cycle. I would also use OPK's once you know when you O you can just use OPK's and CM. Everyone is different, but I get EWCM about 2-3 days before I O

We use OPK's. Like said before the box will tell you when to start testing. Welcome to the site, and I hope that your stay is short......Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Hi I'm New Here

definitely get an OPK kit and follow the directions inside. Generally, you O at the midpoint between your 2 AF's.... but as many TTC'ers can attest, the actual O date can be several days earlier or later.

Starting an account with mymonthlycycles.com or fertilityfriend.com is very helpful to keep track of your cycle and predict O dates. Also consider keeping track of CM or temping (although I must admit I find charting my temp to be too confusing Chat Icon )

good luck Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Hi I'm New Here

Good luck to you!

The month before we started officially trying, I temped every day, so I could get the hang of reading my chart. The next month, I started using OPKs (started on CD12 because I O'd late the previous month) along with temping, and the results of both showed the same, so I figured I was on track. The month after I read Taking Charge of Your Fertility.

All these things really helped me get in tune with what was going on with my body, and I'd recommend them to anyone starting out.
