Hi ladies, Im back from the hospital and my shower was last sunday

I'll start with the happy stuff first.

My mom had my shower at George Washington Manor in the Bryant Room, there were 53 guests and I had a BLAST! From the games to the food to just enjoying every minute of it. GW Manor was Wonderful, good food and great service. My mom and BF decorated so cute. I dont have any pics but as soon as someone emails them to me I will def post. My mom made my wishing well, my umbrella and the clothes line, oh I wish I had a pic to show you all right now. The gifts, OH MY GOD, I cant believe how generous everyone was. the only things I need are some more bottles, a diaper pail and that piece that the baby sleeps on with the cushions on each side so they dont move, I dont know the name of it. I got all of my big stuff and my medela advanced pump. DH couldnt believe it either, we are set.

So now for the bummer news, as many of you know I have gestational diabetes and was trying to beat it with diet and oh well that didnt work, so monday 8 am I was admitted to Winthrop and was discharged friday evening. I cant tell you how it s u c k s to be in the hospital. and the worst of it was my sugar numbers were fine during the day it was only my fasting ( the morning number after you dont eat at night) that kept increasing along with the amount of insulin I was getting. By tuesday they had me injecting myself and I HAD a phobia of needles, that first shot was sooooo hard for me to do to myself. I have to inject 2 different kinds of insulin in the evening, I do it in my thighs. I know have to prick my fingers 6x a day too. I cant tell you how it really hurts to have to prick and stick yourself on a daily basis. My diet is also extremely strict. A nurse came to my home yesterday and today to check my sugar levels, BP, look for edema, educate me regarding diabetes and will be back this week with a specific menu. I left the hospital with my sugar still uncontrolled but at least the numbers began to get lower. So far this morning was my BEST number- as of NOW my gestational diabetes is controlled. I didnt realize how serious this is too. At night after I take a long lasting insulin I am not to eat so b/c of that until I have this baby I have to wake myself up at 3 am everynight and check my sugar to see if it gets too low. If it does and I dont check it, I could pass out and harm the baby. I am also now to really watch to see if my baby doesnt move at all or is in distress due to taking the insulin. really scary stuff. and go to ER if notice any of those too. so of course now Im paranoid- did the baby move, how come it hasnt moved yet. Usually baby is very active since the insulin not as much. Today not that active and it worries me. the nurse said not too worry but how can I not you know. So its great to be back on here, missed everyone and now I am playing catch up with the posts.

Can't wait to see the pictures from your shower! It sounds like it was wonderful!

Also glad to hear that you're getting your diabetes under control--good luck with everything!

Congrats on your shower! Sorry you had to go through all of that at the hospital.. Hope it is smooth sailing from now on.
