Hi everyone, I am very new to LIF. So, my DH and I are currently "not being careful" anymore! Now....I ovulated last weekend July 11 and 12 and my period is due either this Friday or Saturday.....I have been charting my BBT and my temps are on the high side. Before ovulation I was ranging between 97.0-97.7 and now this past week after ovulation I have been ranging between 98.4-98.8 and it has not been going down. Could this possibly mean what I think it may mean?!?! I am going nuts! I tested this morning and it was negative but also, I am only 9 DPO so I am thinking of waiting until Thursday because than I will 12 DPO. Any comments will help ease my suspense!
Post O temps are always higher than pre O temps because progesterone increases and that causes the body to heat up slightly. It doesn't necessarily mean you're NOT PG but a temp increase like that is normal.
If you are ovulating then you will always see a biphasic pattern (lower temps before you ovulate and higher temps after you ovulate). So higher temps alone do not indicate that you are pregnant. You will need to determine the length of your luteal phase (the number of days between your ovulation day and the first day of your next period. If you determine that your LP is consistently 12 days and you see high temps for 14 or more days in a row then that is a good indication that you are pregnant.
If you don't know your LP length then the general rule of thumb is that 18 or more high temps in a row can indicate pregnancy.
As the PP said a triphasic chart (a second set of higher temps after the initial rise after ovulation) can indicate pregnancy but does not always mean pregnancy
I sounds like it is too early for you to determine if you are pregnant by your temps alone.
I hope that made sense and I hope it helped! Good luck!
