High Fructose Corn Syrup

I know this is probably wishful thinking, but i'm getting tired of standing in the supermarket aisles, reading every ingrediant label.

Is there anywhere that i can find a list of foods/ brands that Don't use HFCS? (yes, i tried google Chat Icon but i'm just getitng little tidbits here and there).

i know whole foods and trader joes would be easier, but they're not really convinient travel-wise.

TIA! Chat Icon

Look for foods that say natural or organic. HFCS is in most foods.

Try whole foods. Love that store and lots of organic stuff. HFCS is nasty!

Though it's not a 'fun' way to eat, shopping for food on the perimeter of the supermarket will ensure that you won't be eating anything with HFCS. Beyond that, going into the aisles with only organic foods should help, too.

Interesting. I never thought that way, but you're right. I almost always buy Nature's Promise from Stop and Shop. That is their organic brand of food.

not even exxagerating... it seriously IS! even cereals that are 'healthy' (though, its not in frostred shredded wheat, but it is in Special K.. weird, imo). it's so frustrating. its even in those 100 calorie packs. Nothing is sacred anymore! Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: High Fructose Corn Syrup

Check the breads in the fresh bakery area and you might have better luck. The company I work for does not use HFCS and we supply many of the par-baked breads and frozen dough to in-store bakeries. It would be the product that is sold under the store or un-branded labels so you'll still have to check.

Also, if there is a brand you like you can e-mail them or call the 800 number. Ask them for a list of their products that do not contain HFCS. They may send you coupons too.

On a side note, HFCS is cheaper that sugar and that's one reason a lot of companies use it because they are constantly getting beat down for better pricing at the same time their ingredient costs go up.

I try to avoid it too, but it is in everything. Even salad dressing. It really is best to go natural. And be a label reader.

Re: High Fructose Corn Syrup

HFCS is in sooo many foods, it's gross. I am trying to give foods up for Lent that have it as one of the first three ingredients..so this thread is helpful, thanks!!!
