High heartrate???
We are 24wks 4 days today. Last night DD heartrate was 170, then they came back 15 mins later and it was 165. 1 hour later it went down to 145-150. This morning 159. The nurse oncall last night actually called the doc when the rate went to 170, he said not to worry as long as it goes down. My question is, has anyone else had this experience? I dont know why it would go to 170 , its the first time......

Re: High heartrate???
I've had 170 at times - in the beginning I was told it is normal. It's probably b/c the baby was moving around at that time.

Re: High heartrate???
Movement definitely affects the baby's HR. DS had some high spikes in his HR when he was being monitored about a week before he was born, He was very active that day and the L & D nurse said it was OK.

Re: High heartrate???
I hope this helps although I dont remember the specifics..
When I was pregnant with the twins..I had twice daily monitoring. They liked to moniter them while they were awake so if one would be sleeping they would wake her up by putting this buzzy thing on my belly where she was lying. Sometimes they would have to come in a couple of times and get her heartrate going to see how "reactive" she was..It would be pretty high right after they buzzed her and then it would go back down again...kind of like a startle reflex or like when we get scared or something...

Re: High heartrate???
A high heartrate is normal. Even later in my pregnancy, it was normal for his heartrate to go between 140 and 165, especially if he was moving around a lot. If your doctor isn't concerned, I'm sure it's okay.

Re: High heartrate???
Thanks ladies. Its funny how I feel so much better knowing others experienced this. The nurse panicked me when she said she was calling the DR. Shes a new nurse so I guess she was being careful

Re: High heartrate???
I didn't think 170 was high at all
My cousin and my BFF both said their girls consistantly had heartrates of 170.

Re: High heartrate???
My son, who is now 3, had a heart rate of 185 when I had a fever at about 30 something weeks. The nurses were concerned and I had IV fluids to bring down my temps. His heartrate went back to normal and he is fine.
Maybe cause of all you're going through the hb went up, but that does not seem so high. Glad to hear it went back down
