High quality dog food for a finicky eater? UPDATED

My almost-4-year-old cavalier has been on Wellness since he started eating dog food. He's never been a voracious eater. He's on the small side for a male cav, but his doctor isn't concerned or anything. A couple of years ago, we switched to Wellness Small Breed and he did a little better with that, but he's just not excited by his food at all. We let him graze (which I know we probably shouldn't do), but he usually waits until the middle of the night, prob when he's starving to eat. DH thinks he just doesn't like it and that we should try something new.

Does anyone have a picky eater who loves one particular brand?

ETA: We used to add a little wellness wet food to get him going, but eventually he stopped eating that and I'd have to throw his entire bowl of food out if it sat too long.

UPDATE: I bought a bag of Blue Buffalo Small Breed today. I gave him a few pieces out of my hand and he ate them right away (not typical for him!). So I mixed some in with his usual food and he's currently chomping away! Let's hope this continues! Thanks again.

my dog is a picky eater as well. i give him welness core and a 1/3 of a can of wellness core wet. he also eats over a few hours during the day. we've tried other brands but this seems to be his favorite.

My dog isnt picky but we give him Blue Buffalo because he has allergy issues.

He loves it and goes nuts over the canned food which he only gets once in awhile.

mine was very finicky in the beginning so we mixed a little wet with the dry, but it sounds like you already tried that.

now he eats nutro ultra like he's never been fed before.

My dog is very picky and has food allergies. We give him Solid Gold Wolf King and Wellness Simple (the fish formula). In the past we have fed him Blue Buffalo but he stopped eating it. Often we will add a bit of broth to his dry food and that does the trick.

My dog is not picky at all but does have a sensitive stomach and we us Wellness dog food.

My dogs always loved Merrick. I have my cats on Merrick now and they seem very happy with it so far.

One my cavapoo (Cavalier King Charles/poodle) is such a picky eater. He won't eat. AT ALL!


I got him some Innova food. He started eating again.

It's a constant struggle with him.
