High Risk Doctors and Insurance
I hope someone can help me. I was diagnosed with MTHFR and referred to Madonna Perinatal as a high risk doctor. My question is do I still go to my regular doctor for visits and the high risk doctor when sometimes they do the same thing? For example, next week I have an appt. at my regular doctor for a sonogram just to hear the heartbeat and then 4 days later I have an appt. at the high risk doctor who will do another sonogram to measure the baby. I don't want my insurance not to cover all the appt. and sonograms I am having. Does anyone know anything about this? Thanks!

Re: High Risk Doctors and Insurance
my insurabce covered it all, i also go to madona every 2 weeks and my reg dr every 4 weeks. the only thing is you cant have 2 sonos done on one day, for example, the level 2, and a cervical length scan, thats what i get, they must be done seperate but the people at madonna are pretty good at knowing whats covered, i have no copays at madona...what ins do u have

Re: High Risk Doctors and Insurance
I also have the MTHFR defects. I see both also. I now see Madonna every 4 weeks for growth scan and my high risk ob/gyn every 4 weeks for checkups. So I end up goign to the doctor every 2 weeks. I only have to pay a copay at Madonna if I see the doctor. If it is just for a scan then I pay nothing out of pocket.

I also have MTHFR,,,I went to see a MFM (maternal fetal medicine doctor) and it was covered. I had 2 level II's done (one at 16 weeks and one at 20 weeks) and they were all covered.....I also had to see a hematoplogist while pregnant (he prescribed me the lovenox and then later, the heparin that I needed and did a CBC each month to check my blood count)
FM me if you want more info about MTHFR or the process while pregnant....I just went through this myself so I am a pro....

Re: High Risk Doctors and Insurance
my insurance has been covering both.
My reg OB did not do sonos that are usually routine, like when I went to my reg OB for the 8wk visit, he did not do another sono, since I had just had one the week before at the high risk.
