Hip Pains?
I've been having "pains" in my hips all day today and what feels like a light stomach ache. Is this normal? Is it stretching? Should I be concerned?
I'm 10w2d.

Re: Hip Pains?
It is probably just stretching and your pelvis shifting. If it is really unbearable, you should call your doc just to make sure. Feel better!

Re: Hip Pains?
I'm not sure exactly where your pains are so I'm not sure whether they're what I had. I was getting pains in my inner thighs / groin area around that time. I'd get a pulling sort of cramping feeling. It would maybe last about 15-30 seconds and I'd get it maybe 1-3 times a day. Most of the time I was just getting a stabbing feeling in my you-know-where.
My doctor said the pulling pains was probably round ligament pain because of the uterus expanding, which is totally normal.
He said as long as the pain isn't "really bad" or accompanied by bleeding, it's nothing to worry about. It can never hurt to call the nurse to discuss your exact symptoms with them, and it's good because they'll put it in your chart and follow up on it, which I think is important.
I haven't had any pain on the outside of my hips at all, but isn't that how the sciatic nerve runs? I'm not sure, but I believe that's very normal as well.
Feel better!!!

Re: Hip Pains?
Oh, also, at 10 w I was still throwing up every single morning... so stomach pains were constant. If you don't have m/s, it could be a related sort of nausea / cramping.
Thankfully it all went away around 14 w! I'm 17 w now and the pains have definitely changed. I've also started to feel the baby a few times a day for a few seconds at a time, which is amazing and so different!

Re: Hip Pains?
It's not unbearable but I really don't know what to expect. I just want to make sure that these types of things are expected (I didn't see anything in "what to expect when expecting" on this topic) I really don't have anyone to talk to about the little things that happen and "what's that new pain/feeling?" which is why I ask here.
It's just a feeling like something is sliding or rubbing my hips. My stomach almost feels like excitement combined with soda bubbles. There's no bleeding. I had back pain even before I became pregnant, so I just expect that to be worse. I must say how much I hate the first trimester because every little thing makes me wonder "is this normal?"

Re: Hip Pains?
It's totally normal to wonder if every twinge and pain is normal, and I'm glad you're asking here! I'm fortunate to go to a gym where there have been a LOT of PG women all around me at all different stages, and I am constantly picking their brains about the smallest of things. It's super helpful!
If you've already had back issues before, then it's definitely possible to have different pains in places connected to that. My OB likes to remind me that everything is connected and the pains will manifest in surprising places just by where they land at the moment.
Also, remember that your body is already starting to produce relaxin which is making all your joints looser and more stretchy, but not stronger... so it's way easy to pull stuff too far without realizing it at the time. (Which is why it's so important to tell a yoga teacher that you're PG, for example, so you can not over stretch yourself.)
I find myself more confident in pains that I get repeatedly from day to day. It's the ones I only get once that make me wonder if they're normal.

Glad to help however I can! I'm only 7 weeks ahead of you, so I'm by no means an expert!! But I'm so happy I can make you feel better, even if it's just a little!
My BFF is 3 1/2 weeks behind me in her PG (she lives in Boston and I'm in NC) so we talk constantly about everything and it's super to bounce things off each other! I'm glad to have my LIF family here to help as we're all going through this amazing journey!

Re: Hip Pains?
This post was super helpful!!!
I think it's totally normal to feel these pains but of course when it's happening, you freak out. Right now I have like a soreness on my left side and I'm worried but DH (who is in charge of all google searches LOL) just checked and told me it's totally normal. I think we should expect a lot of different types of pains and like someone said, as long as there is no heavy bleeding, it is OK!
