Re: Hip replacement surgery
my landlord just had it the same day as my DH neck surgery
he was in the hospital for 3 days- then sent to rehab- he was suppose to be there for 2 weeks- but he was doing so well he left early
he is so happy! he said it was totally worth it!

It totally depends on the type of hip replacement the surgeon will be performing.
My mom got a minimally invasive total hip replacement in April 2006. She was in the hospital for about 5 days and then she was home and doing a lot of walking. she did not have to go to rehab because it was minimally invasive with a very small incision. She was out of work for about 6 weeks and had to walk and take periodic rests but overall it was the best thing she ever did.
My wedding was in Oct 2006 and she was perfectly fine and dancing up a storm.
Let me know if you have any more quesitons!

Re: Hip replacement surgery
I worked in a rehab facility and I would say the average hip-replacment patient was there for 2 weeks.

Re: Hip replacement surgery
When my Dad had his done. I think he was in the hospital for 3 or 4 days then they sent him to a rehab place for a couple of Weeks. He used to say. It was one the best decisions he made to have it replaced. The arthritis was so painful.
I hope your Mom has a fast recovery!
My Dad had his replaced when he was 74.
