hiring painters?
We're looking into the cost to have people come in and Spackle some spots in our computer room and foyer. The one spackle job in the foyer ceiling is a decent size by the attic stairs. We also want them to repaint both rooms.
They're giving us a quote of $2500 and that seems a lot to me but i wouldn't really know.
is that reasonable? too high?

Re: hiring painters?
My parents house just got painted. LR, DR, kitchen, 3 beds, 2 bath, ceilings. LOTS of spackling needed but not a large house. I'm pretty sure CertaPro wanted $6000. A few other local people (not on LI) wanted anywhere from $4000-5500. Based on the above, your quote seems high to me.

Re: hiring painters?
We used certapro. Paid over 10k for JUST the walls (no trim or ceiling) in living room, dining,foyer,den,3bedrooms. 2 of the bedrooms we supplied the paint. They were fkn AWFUL!!! I had to demand my house keys back mid week because I was sick of their shit. They would leave windows open and doors unlocked at the end of the day!!!! We had not Moved in yet but how irresponsible!? It was a complete nightmare.
They also tried to tell me one of the walls looked green instead of gray because of the reflection of grass from My backyard.......

hiring painters?
thats ridiculous IMO- When I first moved into my house 5 years ago, I paid 3k for every wall (small house: 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, living room, dining room, kitchen). Included all closets and ceilings as well. It was a pretty old house and walls hadn't been touched in over 50 years so there was a decent amount of work to do. I pulled down the wallpaper in the kitchen but the wall itself was a mess. We also had wood paneling behind one wall that we ripped down, and that entire wall was in very bad shape. The price included the benjamin moore paint as well- i picked 4 different colors

I'd get a few estimates to really judge.

I used A Touch of Class Painting recently for my whole first floor (walls, trim, ceilings and a closet). He lives out east but travels all over.

Could you send me their contact info? I tried to google it but no website came up. Unless i'm putting it in wrong.

hiring painters?
We actually hired a handyman at a day rate instead of a painter. It was so much cheaper. He was excellent and the house was painted perfectly. It may be something to look into. He was referred to us by a contractor who subs out painting work to him. Unfortunately it was a few years ago and I don't have his info anymore.
