his eye keeps tearing
we went to the dr when he was around 2-3 weeks because he had a lot of eye stuff coming out and it kept tearing. The dr. gave us the ointment to put in his eyes for a week-the same that they put in their eyes after they are born. He said it was probably a clogged tear duct or conjunctivitis.
Well..here we are a few weeks later and this eye keeps tearing and getting eye boogers constantly!! the other eye is totally fine..
Is this normal??

Re: his eye keeps tearing
Lucas had a clogged tear duct for a very long time and got so much goo in his eye that I (lovingly) referred to him as Mr. Magoo.
The ped gave us some drops to put in - but I honestly felt that they never really helped. What did help:
- Massaging corner of eye with warm washcloth - Time (I firmly believe that he outgrew this and the tear duct got bigger over time)

Re: his eye keeps tearing
Michael is going through the same thing since he was 3 weeks old...the dr told us to just keep on cleaning it with warm water or camomile tea. I feel so bad for him sometimes when he wakes up bc his eye is stuck shut...

Re: his eye keeps tearing
Isabella had this for about 4 week straight. I was constantly massaging her tear ducts and cleaning out her eyes. I didn't get anything from the doctor for it. But I was really concerned. It seems to have gone away on its own just this week. My doctor said it is very common and to just keep them clean.

Re: his eye keeps tearing
I had the same experience as the others; I tried the ointment but it didn't help (that only helps if it actually is pink eye). What did help was us massaging the corner of her eye. What this does is puts a little pressure on the duct and gets it to open.
The doctor said it could happen again, it;s very common in babies but they usually out grow them.
