Re: Hmmmm...is my hungry hippo over eating?

i'm pretty sure I posted the same thing about 4.5 mos ago Chat Icon when DS was 6 wks. He was 24" and 13lbs. We were definitely on the big bottles at that point (I think he was taking 5-6oz) and he was eating every 3 hrs. About a week later, he was taking more in each bottle but stretching longer in between. He started sleeping about 6hrs overnight at 7.5 weeks, 7hrs overnight @ 8 weeks.

I actually called the Dr bc when he was 12wks, he was drinking nearly 50oz/day!

If he's eating and not spitting it up, he's hungry and not overeating. Feed him! Chat Icon

THANK YOU! DS is almost 15 lbs, and long, but not sure exact until we go for 8 wk..lol .

He has been taking the 5 oz, i prepare, but then is still hungry, so I wind up giving him 1-2 more oz, he eats every 3-4 hours, but when I was doing 5 oz, he would wake up after 1-2 hours. If I up the feeding to the 6 oz...he may sleep longer? Do yu just up the last feeding at night?

Re: Hmmmm...is my hungry hippo over eating?

I'm so glad you posted this, I thought DS might be eating too much too. Her is 6 weeks, and has been finishing off 6 oz. bottles at almost every feeding since his 1 month appt. two weeks ago.
This morning, after sleeping all night, he was still hungry after the 6 ounces and easily gulped down another oz. He probably would have taken more, but I was worried that would be too much!

He was 8 lbs., 21 inches at birth, and was 9 lbs., 10 oz, 21.5 inches two weeks ago. Definitely feels like he is getting heavier though - so I wonder what his 2 month weigh in will be.

eta: Once he started taking a full 6 oz. at each feeding, he did start sleeping much better at night, and longer...

Re: Hmmmm...is my hungry hippo over eating?

At 6 weeks one of my DSs weighed 8.5 pounds and was taking around 5 ounces 8 times a day. Now at 10 weeks he is 9.5 pounds and takes 6+ ounces 7 times a day for a total of 40-45 ounces a day. My ped told me to feed him as much as he wants.
