Hmmmn...Ready to potty train?

DD (2 years 2 months) was sitting on the couch and said "Uh-oh Mommy." She stood up and said, "hurts here" and pointed to her lower belly.

She has a minor umbilical hernia that has been healing slowly but I got freaked out (even though she was pointing below her belly button). I laid her down, it was probably time for a new diaper anyway, to change her. Diaper that had been on for 1.5-2 hours was empty. I changed it, gently probed around her belly, it felt kind of hard. I asked if she had to go pee pee and she said no. I got worried again because she had a labial adhesion that very recently opened up but I though maybe it closed and she couldn't pee. She had OJ and milk with breakfast (about 10 oz fluids), 5-6 oz milk with lunch, and 2, 9 oz sippy cups, one of juice/water and one water today with only one minorly wet diaper.

Well within 5 minutes the new diaper was FULL, and I mean FULL. Colorless and no strong smell or strange odor. I thought "hurts hear" maybe a sign of a UTI but she doesn't seem at all uncomfortable. Maybe she's realizing that she needs to go?

Anyone? I think I may start showing her potty training DVD's and reading the books more often.

I just wanted to post in case anyone thought my suspicions of something being wrong with her could be right.

Maybe she is holding it in because she doesn't like the wet feeling anymore. I say go for the potty training!

But if she says it hurts again, I'd maybe have her checked out, just in case. Chat Icon
