Holiday Decorating - Garland Question (w/pic)
This is how I want to display my garland.
How do I attach it to the mantle without ruining it? (the mantle, that is...) I don't want to use nails....
What do I use? Masking tape? suction cups?
This is my first year with a fireplace, so I am not sure what to do...
Thanks!

Hmmm, if you don't want to use holes, what about the blue fun tac, just making sure you are covering it completely?

Use the 3M Hooks with easy off backs. They are made not to damage wood or paint.

IMO, they don't work. They sure damaged the paint and drywall at my IL's house, and were not easy to take off at all.
I'd try suction cups, fun-tac, double sided tape.

This is what I was going to suggest. I use these each christmas for various decorations and have never had a issue getting them off or them taking paint with them.
Good Luck!

What about a stocking holder? You could find one that would go with your idea and then use wire to secure the garland to it.
Something like this maybe?
Other than that you could put a hook or eye hook in a piece of wood - maybe 1x6 so it's weighty enough to not be pulled off the mantel by the garland - you could paint/stain the wood to match your mantle so it blends in better

Do you use your fireplace? This looks like a big fire hazard...
