Holiday? for those who put candles in the windows

Last night I tried putting the Michaels battery-operated candles in the windows of our house. I bought suction cup holders so they would stay in place. Well......after about 5 minutes 3 of them popped off, crashed to the floor, and the bulb shattered in 50 million pieces. What am I doing wrong? LOL
What is the trick?

Chat Icon Every year I try to decorate the house - I always get so frustrated argh! help!

I closed my blinds behind them to keep them in place.

They are probably just cheap suction cups. I don't know about those particular ones, but I do know that suction cups will usually work a little better if you put a little bit of oil on it. Dip your finger in vegetable (or whatever you have) oil and wip a bit on the inside of the suction cup right near the edges. Maybe try it on one or two to see if it helps with these?

I just put my candles on the ledge, not on the window...

i don't use the suction cups bc I find they never stay. Instead, I put them on the ledge of the windowsill & sometimes even position them so part of the bottom of the candle holder is under the crank of the window....

if you are trying to hang the candles, the suction cup most likely is not strong enough.

Leave the candle on the ledge and attach it to the window...so the candle is resting on the ledge and the suction cup is there to keep the candle in place

We just let them sit on the ledge.

I use real candles in hurricane lamps.

Apparently I like to live dangerously.

There is a little over an inch from the ledge to the window - the suction cup =clamps holds the candle at a part where it won't rest on the ledge if it to reach the window.

i tried again tonight with no luck. Any other recommendations? What if I crazy glue them to the ledge LOL

I just sit them on the ledge and put a small peice of tape. Then the blinds keep them in place even more.
