holiday gifts for students
What do you get them?
I know most people probably don't do this... but there must be SOME other teachers who do!
I have 10 kids so I get them little gifts, last year I got them slippers and gloves, inside a giftbag filled with holiday themed candy......
This year I'm still trying to decide........ I try to stay below 100 for everyone. Any ideas?

Wow...you are generous! I usually use my bonus points and get a 95 cent book from Scholastic and then put a candy cane and a note on top...points are scarce this year so my co teacher and I might just get a little something..we do have 21 kids, but can't really spend $100 on the class! We also have monitors that help us and we get them a little something (usually a gift card to Claire's and a little token from there-they're girls and they love it)

Re: holiday gifts for students
Those are both good ideas and easy on the wallet too!!
In my school I have to admit, teachers go a little overboard. Since the special ed classes are small, most of the special ed teachers get cakes for the kids on their birthdays. There are some teacher in my school who get their kids very generous gifts for the holidays.
I am still trying to decide what I am going to do A book is a cute idea, and hey, I can differentiate by giving books on each kid's level My administration would love that!

Re: holiday gifts for students
It is frowned on at my new school, besides these students want for nothing, but at my old school I used my points to choose books for the students.

I have a friend that did JUST THAT with the books-gave on different levels..since they were wrapped, the other kids never knew!

I teach a 1st grade special ed class. I usually go to the Dollar Tree and fill up with goodies there. I get them coloring books, crayons and sometimes a puzzle too. They always love it
