Holiday Wishes & Update on Banned Rescuers & TOHAS
Dear animal lovers, rescuers and advocates, Many of you might have heard that the banned rescuers are now permitted back into the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter. Although we are grateful for the many calls & messages from our supporters congratulating us on our return, we have only been granted the ability to go in as a "VISITOR" and view only the animals placed up front on the Adoption Floor.
It will take a lot more than that to reform this shelter into a No-Kill facility. Unfortunately to date, there is still no sign of TRANSPARENCY and ACCOUNTABILITY at TOHAS or becoming a NO-KILL Facility!
This is clearly evident due to the lack of Policies, Procedures and Programs that are the crucial ingredients in being a NO-Kill Shelter!
However, on a Good Note, It is the Holiday Season and the Volunteer Program is starting to take form at the TOH Animal Shelter.
As Hope for Hempstead Shelter reflects on our accomplishments of 2011 the Volunteer Program gives us great pride and cause for celebration!! And while the job of the Volunteers are to get their hands all over our animals and make certain that their stay at TOHAS is as pleasant as possible,.....
It will continue to be OUR JOB to make certain TOHAS becomes transparent, accountable and implements life saving policies and procedures that will protect and save our animals! Hope for Hempstead Shelter would like to take this time to thank each and every one of you for your continued support throughout the year. We look forward to working together to accomplish our goal of making TOHAS a no-kill shelter. We would also like to wish you and your family the healthiest and happiest holiday season.
