Holidays and Sleep schedule

For those you celebrate Christmas Eve or even Christmas Day dinner at someone else's home-how do you cope with taking your DC with you especially since it disrupts their bedtime. My family celebrates the eve and the festivities usually start around 6:30p. DD is on such a great sleeping schedule and I am unsure on how to go about this holiday. BTDT mom's for the holidays do you just suck it up and keep your child up late?

Re: Holidays and Sleep schedule

I plan on bringing my pack n play for Christmas Eve and having DD go to sleep her normal time in there in a bedroom. We did that on Thanksgiving since DD goes to bed at 7 pm and it worked great. She wasn't too happy to get woken to be put in her car seat and then back into her crib when we got home but she fell asleep pretty quickly again. I figure you have to get them used to some disruptions sometimes otherwise you will always have to be home so early which does not work for most events.

Re: Holidays and Sleep schedule

Our holidays start late and end late, and usually they begin early and end late too.

Thanksgiving and family parties, i just keep her up if she tolerates it. DD bounces back pretty well from a late night and goes right back on her schedule. She's too nosey, she likes to be in the action and won't sleep when there's stuff going on. She takes many naps!

I plan on taking her travel crib with me to my grandmothers for xmas eve. We do not leave her house until 1-2am, there's no way DD will make it past 10pm.

I keep him on the same schedule no matter where we are. My parents and ILs have a crib, and when we're away, we use the pack n play.
