holy crap! I live in a blue state!
According to CNN.com... VA is now blue!
I'm shocked! I never thought it would happen.
I like to think DH and I moving here had something to do with it

Most of VA is still red. the parts near DC (Alexandria for example) are tipping it blue because the population is greater in the DC suburbs.

the rural areas are still mostly red... but as another poster said, fairfax, alexandria, arlington, etc. are very democratic.
according to the cnn electroal map, if all the states that are leaning obama GO obama, he already has the electoral votes that he needs to win 
Of course, that could still change over the next 3 weeks, but i really am in shock!

VA has been on the verge of turning blue for a while. elections. It was very close in the bush election. They say it is due to the large percentage of people that have moved from other states like NYC down to the northern part of VA. The northern part of VA is basically the dc suburbs. I hardly ever meet anyone in northern VA that was born and raised here.

it's true. very few of the teachers that i work with were born in va... majority are from NY and PA.
I was born, but not raised in VA. I'm one of the few that's kind of 'close' to being a native
I guess i should be too shocked, we have a dem for a govenor and one senator. And Warner will likely win the second senate seat.
And the rest of VA already wants NOVA out of the state
