Basically it is Sanjaya saying that he is really a graduate student named Bill Vendall. He created the character "Sanjaya" as an art project.
I don't believe it for a second.

i think its bs becuase he was some geeky guy trying out with his sister. if he didnt make it on then he wouldnt have gotten noticed. it wasnt until the last 5 weeks of the competition he started doing his hair strangly. so i think its bs.
