holy expensive batman
So- I have four handbags that I wanted "fixed up"... Two of which I want to sell-- and two of which are bags that were my mom's that I wanted to replace the straps to update-- and just clean up a bit.
So I went to the place that I had found on the UES called Artbag... I could not believe how expensive they were!! To replace the strap on one bag and add a little hardware to update-- $200!!!!! The guy was great with advice on selling and telling me what each of the bags were worth- including the "vintage" ones.. but I could not believe how expensive.
I might just go to my local shoe repair and see what they can do-- I will take one of the vintage bags bak there, bit I just didn;t want to spend $85 right now-- that was to replace the lining in the side pocket and shorten the strap.

Re: holy expensive batman
One is a Furla-- this is just fixing the strap since it has gotten a bit loose.
Then I have a Kooba-- the original Sienna from 2004 before all the hype-- it doesn't need any repair, but I wanted to clean it before I sold it. The guy told me to not bother, and just sell it like it is-- but, I still want to try.
The other two are the vintage ones-- one is a Cosci-- it's a black basket-weave bucket/hobo style bag (a la Bottega Venetta). I don't have any black bags-- I am a "brown girl"-- so I thought If I cold spend some money to update the strap and clean it up, it would be great to have. He said spending the $200 to fix the bag isnt't worth it-- nor would I spend that kind of money-- if I can do it for cheaper (much cheaper) I would still like to try.
The other one is a Bagheera-- this one I really like, and he said this one was worth a few hundred bucks. The price he gave me to do this one was $85, so I will do it eventually.

Re: holy expensive batman
Q - is the sienna you have in a color that is rare/not avail anymore?
if not, I would not bother fixing it up before you sell it. I have seen siennas sell for really cheap on eBay

Re: holy expensive batman
I don't think so-- it's the Cognac color. I'll need to research what I can sell it for. If it's not too much, I will just keep it. I was thinking like $100 or so... even though of course I'd like to get more for it.

Re: holy expensive batman
well, my thought was-- if it cost me 10 to 20 bucks to clean up the strap a bit why not-- if it will help me get a better price. What do you think it would go for? Here are some pics...
Also, I just looked on the Cosci web site-- and those bags are selling for 400+ euros-- so, I think that fixing it up is worth it-- I just have to find a place that isn't so expensive.

well, that is what this Artbag place told me-- to clean it up-- about that.. But, I can't imagine that I can' get it done cheaper somewhere. This place is known to be expensive- and even their web site says they are the most expensive, etc.
