Holy mother of all tantrums!!!
DD is almost 17 months and is starting to enter the Miss Independence phase where she wants to do everything herself. Tonight that included putting on her own pajama pants, which she is still not capable of doing. We tried to help, and she threw the biggest fit I've ever witnessed. She was red, screaming, out of breath, sweaty, and hysterical.
I eventually calmed her down but she was out of her mind.
BTDTs, how do you reconcile their want to do things independently with the reality that they're just not able to do certain things and need help?
If this is a phase that's here for awhile, we're doomed!!!

Try giving some them control on things. You pick out your pants (CHOICE OF TWO ONLY OTHERWISE THEY FREAK) & I put them on.

Re: Holy mother of all tantrums!!!
Ahhh Jenn, and so it begins Shane is slowwwwly getting a grip (at 21 months) it's waay waaay more bearable than at 15-19 months or so.Certain things would just set him off, and there seemed to be little we could do to short circuit the process. But a few times if he was tantrumy in the evenings I'd just leave the room and Daddy would take over; most of the time that small change worked well. Hmm in retrospect perhaps he'd had enough of me for one day She WILL come out the other side, don't worry and try not to let them make you crazy. The ABC song was a great mood changer around here for months
