hOME BREAK IN- RONKONKOMA
I just wanted to let you know that my house was broken into yesterday afternoon, while someone was home... I guess you would consider it a home envasion. Just wanted to let you know to keep a watchful eye. And please spread the word to you neighbors.
According to the detectives, there has been numerous robberies like this. A gang of "kids", who are looking for a quick score.

Actually my tenant was home with her 2 year old sleeping, the robber broke down the door and entered the bedroom where they were sleeping, he saw them and fled the house

I have heard about this too from my friends brother who is a cop in the 4th. He said they knock or try to see if no one is home. If no one is home they break the door in. He said this has also been going on the Lake Ronkonkoma/ Lake Grove border. He said keep lots of lights on in the front of your house.
Very scary to think this is going on.

This happened to one of DH's friends in Nesconset near that area! His teenage daughter was home alone (had day off from school) sleeping and the robbers went into her bedroom and took her laptop as she screamed! Luckily no one was hurt, but very scary stuff.

How horrifying!!!!!!
There are packs of unsupervised bad kids roaming all over LI making problems. We have a crew of graffiti punks that keep vandalizing our clubhouse. They spray painted the whole back of the building, we repainted it & last week they came back & did it again!!!!
We made police reports & the cops say they know they aren't from our town & they travel around but they can't catch them in the act!!! Its cost our community a small fortune to maintain the building, we don't have money for cameras. Tomorrow I'm meeting with a couple of my neighbors & we are going to put together reward money & post signs everywhere.
Maybe people from your town can do the same.
Its unbelievable to me the number of young people that do not know right from wrong!!!

Kelly, did you guys try signs that SAY that the area is under surveillance? 
I work with someone who lives near you and he was having problems with people stealing things from his yard. He put up some signs (not actual cameras) and hasn't had a problem since.
Maybe it's the same group of kids and it will work on them again
