Re: Home buyers - does the brand matter?

I like those cabinets very much! Especially the spice-rack one.......As long as they look good and are of good quality, I don't much care about the brand name...

Re: Home buyers - does the brand matter?

My parents have the flatware drawer and the garbage pail drawer. They are great! I love the other ones you posted too!

Re: Home buyers - does the brand matter?

it didn't matter to us as long as they were durable plus we can always buy plastic versions of storage units to max. space in cabinets.

Re: Home buyers - does the brand matter?

As long as they are made and rated well, I don't have a preference.

I love all the new storage solutions they have these days. My favorite is the pots drawer.

Re: Home buyers - does the brand matter?

I wouldn't even know the brand - its definitely the looks that matters - its easy to tell what was done cheaply.

Re: Home buyers - does the brand matter?

The brand did not matter to me as long as I liked how it looked. I never even thought about asking what the brand was when looking at houses.

If I was going to re-do anything, then the brand would matter more to me.

Re: Home buyers - does the brand matter?

it all depends on whether you choose custom, semi custom or stock kitchen cabinets.
stock cabinets are the least expensive, but you have the least amount of flexibility when it comes to design choices.
Semi custom youre still limited, you pay a bit more than stock, but this way you get the precise fit for your kitchen...
and with custom cabinets, you can basically have anything you have in mind built.
I think even within semi-custom&custom, the brand name still matters....depending on what your budget is, I think its wise to do comparison shopping &research to come to the best decision.

Re: Home buyers - does the brand matter?

Not sure if you meant existing cabinets that you wanted to add those option to, or if you were thinking of installing new ones! sorry!

Re: Home buyers - does the brand matter?

It's for a new kitchen.

We got a layout done this weekend.

We priced Kraftmaid and plan to price Medallion and maybe Brookhaven/Woodmode cabinets too.

Re: Home buyers - does the brand matter?

What I did was I brought my blueprints to several kitchen designers, and had them lay out the kitchen w/o saying that I had gone to someone before them...took ideas from all the KD's so had an idea of what my options were....and then compare&see who gave the best options&price-
Also look on gardenweb.com under kitchen forums, and under the search option you can type in the names of the cabinets you are interested in, and you will see what other people have to say about the brands&compare prices also.
Its best to go in &know what youre talking about so the KD will know you mean business¬ try to get over on you! hope that helps!good luck!

Re: Home buyers - does the brand matter?

While some buyers may know some brands some may not have a clue about kitchen brands at all. As long as it is "neutral", good quality and nice looking (although that relevant to each buyer!).

Re: Home buyers - does the brand matter?

see now personally I think its important to know what youre buying-I think cabinets are one example of you get what you pay for.
A cousin of mine bought cabinets at consumers-I think they were craftmaid...reasonably priced and looked really nice-low sheen, nice color etc...about 6 months after getting them installed they looked busted! peeling-coming off the hinges, such a shame.

Re: Home buyers - does the brand matter?

THere are 2 different companies-Kraftmaid and Craftmaid. I believe the K is much more expensive and better quality.

I haven't had to pick cabinets. But when I do I love these features.

I think its more the look and space available.

I love these as well as the spice rack cabinet and had them all put into my new kitchen. I am also supposed to have the pull out drawers in the cabinets but they didn't come like that so that has to be rectified.

The one thing I didn't think of was the flatware drawer organizer. Chat Icon Maybe I can still change that.
