Vonage here, too. Cheaper than Time Warner (I'm in Queens) and no problems at all.

because it doesn't work for very long, it cuts out on me especially on important phone calls, and now that i'm job hunting i don't need the aggreviation of people trying to call me and having this problem, meanwhile i keep using all my cell phone minutes. the tech guy is coming here again for the 3rd time and they cant' find anything wrong.

Re: home phone service...
do you have a splitter on your cable line...for the different services...cable, phone and internet? if so, have them change that. Ours went bad and it was drving my Dh crazy because the TV was working, and the phone was working but the internet wasnt. it ended up being the splitter that went bad.
Have the tech change that.

thats true about the cable. if you are worried about that then you need to get verizon. Why don't you check and see if you have FIOS in your area?
BTW You can keep your same number with vonage.

Re: home phone service...
My inlaws have Verizon and have unlimited long distance for a flat rate and it uses their phone line, so they can't lose it in loss of power unless telephone lines are also cut.

Re: home phone service...
I was watching something about this on Today show. The cable or Internet phone services sound good but I worry about the problems they mentioned with 911 and power outtages. What is everyone's take on this???
