Home -type presents for the man in your life? or for golden rod / scottanddanielle??
I was thinking about a snow blower. don't want to spend more than $400.00. don't know a good one . . was looking at sears. can anyone help with that?
OR - what other home type of gifts have you gotten that you love, or would you like to get?
TIA!

DW knows not to get any tools without a UPC code from me first...
I have a snow plow on my truck, so I don't have or need a snowblower. I have been buying the Craftsman C3 cordless series of tools. They have multi-packs that vary quite a bit in price.
Craftsman C3 19.2v cordless tool sets
One set of batteries work for several dozen different tools. I currently have the drill and staple gun, but I've been eyeing a few other tools as well.

If you have these tools already, do you still buy these b/c they are considered an "upgrade?"
that is, DH wouldn't say to me "I have this already"?

It's hard to say. If he has corded versions of the tools, these are definitely different tools, then. If he has cordless versions of these tools, he may not want or need the "same" tool again. I have a corded drill, and the C3 cordless drill. I use them for different things. The battery drill is convenient and portable, but the corded one can run longer and is lighter (no battery), so it's good if you aren't moving around a lot, but doing a lot of drilling or driving screws.

Re: Home -type presents for the man in your life? or for golden rod / scottanddanielle??
I bought DH for our first Christmas in our home a Craftsman tool chest for the garage. He was really surprised I got it and was really happy with it. You can basically customize it to size too.
I think it also depends on how handy he is and what he capable of doing around the house. These are the tools I have bought him for either Christmas or his birthday: nail gun with compressor shop vac compound miter saw that comes on a stand and folds up (this one was a complete shock to him) My mother got him a saw's all one christmas
You could get him a new drill (for a good one it is around $150-$200 at Sears) and then get him drill bits, screw head of various kits (they have the philps head, flat head, hex drive sets, counter set, the long screw heads and then this screw head that has a cover that goes over it so it goes in straight. Dewalt makes a little organizer for all this bits). Then you could also get an extra battery too.
I think the snow blower is a good idea but he might not get a lot of use out of it (unless you have a massive driveway). I prefer to give gifts that I know they are going to really use.

We will have a double car driveway, plus DH has a bad back, that's why i thought it was smart for both him AND me
Does anyone have an opinion about this one?Snow blower from sears

I bought DS a snow blower from Home Depot 2 years ago, I think it was $450 and I put it on our HD credit card and got 6 months free financing.
Its a yard machines brand and its gas powered, thats about all I can tell you. I went with a $$ in mind and asked the sales guy for help.
This year DH wants a gas powered leaf blower.
I usually leave the tools up to my Dad or FIL to buy for DH but the snowblower I bought because I as pregnant and fell in the driveway so I told him it was now a necessity.
ETA: This looks like the one HD Snow Blower

I followed your link to the snowblower and read the reviews, and I'd be afraid to buy this particular model. People seem to really dislike it.
Hey, if you do end up getting a snowblower though, would you mind, say, heading down the block and to the left a bit on a snowy day? We're going to have a corner property with a MASSIVE amount of sidewalk to take care of!

I got almost the exact same one for my b-day this year...
DW really knows how to shop for me. She said "Let's go to Sears so you can pick out a tool chest."..... and, you know what, she got me the exact one I wanted.....

Danielle got me this a few years back. I love it.
I would say a snow blower or a Power washer. I have a power washer and it comes in very handy. I dont have a snow blower though and find that I dont really need it. I have a shovel that is good for people with bad backs. Scott

He did not ask for it, but will be so excited to get it, I hope. Right now all of his tools are stored in those three tiered plastic drawer things that are really more suited for dorm rooms, LOL. He curses everytime he has to go and dig through for something. He did it the other day and I thought....hey he could probably use a tool chest.

There is a significant difference in the different models of toolchests. The glide mechanism is the biggest difference. The cheapest ones feel like just that.... cheap. The Quiet Glide is the next step up, and that's what I have. The difference is very noticeable. The ball-bearing slides are the best, but for me, as a home-owner/hobbyist, I couldn't justify the extra cost. I don't use it every day, but definitely often enough for the Quiet Glide version.

So what does that mean for the Craftsman one I picked out for him? Is it a good one, I had no idea there were drawer options?

This is the tool chest I mentioned in my earlier post. It wasn't as tall and in red.
My DH didn't ask for it but I thought it was a great idea to get him organized.
