Re: homemade babyfood
I just steamed any fruit/veggie, added the cooking water to the item and puree-ed in a mini cuisenart. It doesn't get any easier than that!

Re: homemade babyfood
I just made my very first "recipe" today -- sweet potatoes! I used this site for guidance:

Re: homemade babyfood
I usually cook apples, pears, sweet potatoes and butternut squash in the oven with just enough water to cover the bottom of the pan until tender then put it all in the food processor.
Peas, green beans, broccoli, carrots I steam and then add a touch of water and puree.
Soft tofu is great to use as a protein it blends up so well.
Red lentils are also good. Just prepare them as directed on the package and then puree.

Re: homemade babyfood
I hope to do it as much as possible but I know I will have time constraints. I will like knowing exactly what he is getting and, even when I freeze it, I will know that it was fresh when it was made. I'd like to do as much organic as possible. Plus, I will probably eat some, too and it will be healther than my usual foods!!!! I hardly cook at all but I have read about making baby food and it looks so simple. I see all sorts of products for it but I wonder what is really necessary.

Re: homemade babyfood
When I made my food, I used to freeze it ice cube trays (generally each cube would be an ounce.) Once frozen, I would pop them out and put them into a ziplock bag, label them, and put it into the freezer. It was really easy. I don't think you need anything special; I used my food processer to mash everything. I even did chicken, which when I would serve it, it mixed in great with the vegetables.
