Homemade babyfood questions
1 - I made strawberries the other day. When I put it in the cups to freeze, it was a great consistancy, but when I defrosted it, it was all water. What did I do wrong? I ended up mixing it with other fruits, but I don't want to be forced to do that.
2 - Did you ever give your baby pumpkin? I want to and instead of going through the hoopla with a real pumpkin, I just bought 100% pumpkin in a can. I was going to mix it with a bit of formula to thin it out. Is this okay?

I think you can just remix the strawberries and water to get the consistancy back - did you try that?
As long as their is no added sugar or other indgredients in the pumpkin, I'd say thats a good idea!

No, it is basically strawberry water now. This batch can't be saved, but I want to know for the future, how to get it thicker?

Re: Homemade babyfood questions
Be careful of giving strawberries to infants. They recommend you don't give "berries" especially strawberries to infants.
They can trigger allerigic reaction in infants.

ITA My ped says no fuzzy berries until 15-18 months.

Re: Homemade babyfood questions
Check out www.wholesomebabyfood.com for info on using strawberries and pumpkin.
Did you add water to the strawberries when you pureed them? Were the strawberries more on the firm side or the soft side? If they were softer, the puree might break down quicker.
I've used the canned pumpkin. It's a big hit!
