Homemade Cat Food
My moms cats refuse to eat any of the popular cat food brands and they are constantly getting sick from them ( throwing up etc) Has anyone had good luck with making cat food themselves? Any recipes to share? Thanks!

Homemade Cat Food
There are a few recipes for raw diets for cats, you might be able to figure out a raw diet recipe and then cook it. You need to add the right amount of vitamin and mineral supplements.
Although, maybe your moms cat just needs to settle her stomach and get some meds. I don't think there is a difference on the stomach between a balanced home cooked diet and offering a gentle on the stomach prepared food.
I had inquired once at my vet about trying to do a homemade diet for my cats and my vet was pretty against it because it is alot of work make sure the "formula" is complete and balanced. I have a cat with a very sensitive stomach who does amazing on Life's Abundance canned food. She would eat (2-3) 3oz cans a day. Then in December we ran out of food so I fed her plain chicken while I waited for my delivery. It was seriously delayed due to the holidays. Then when it finally arrived she didn't want the food anymore she only wanted chicken. So I kept offering her chicken with the food. Then I decided to try Iams . She went crazy for it, but I offered her her normal serving and she got sick. Then for weeks she would struggle to keep any food down and had nasty poops.
I took her to the vet and she perscribed flagyl (metronidizole) and told me I had given her gastritis (irritation and inflamation of the digestive system) because of the abrupt change in diet. Within 2 days she was back to normal and back on her regular lifes abundance food. I blamed the Iams but it wasn't the Iams it was me trying to switch her onto a different formula of food too quickly. She had a few doses of flagyl and all the problems disappeared.

Re: Homemade Cat Food
No experience with making homemade cat food, but have you tried grain free? My clan seem to be doing well with it since we switched!
