Homeopathy/Pediatrics - sorry so long
I recently began seeing a chiropractor for some back issues. Turns out she is a homeopathic chiropractor (didn't know that beforehand because I just picked her out of the insurance book). She's really helped my back. Each time I'm there we'll talk a little bit about my son and she'll tell me about her beliefs (anti-vaccines especially). She actually isn't pushy though, she doesn't criticize my decisions and is actually surprised that I knew so much about it (thank you LIF girls).
Anyway, I came down with a cough earlier this week and she gave me homeopathic cough syrup and I swear the stuff is amazing!
Here is where the parent part comes in...and I know there are other ladies on the board going through the same thing right now. It seems as if my son has been sick at least twice per month. He had RSV in November. Many colds since then. And then 6 weeks ago he got a middle ear infection that has been treated 3 times with antibiotics and we're hoping third time will be a charm. This third time he is on Augmentin which has me feeling really stressed because he has such horrible diarreah and I wish he didn't have to put something so potent in his little body.
So back to the chiropractor, she mentioned that she would be willing to see him because she thinks she will be able to help the ear infection without the antibiotics allowing him to not suppress his immune system. Plus she said she has good homeopathic meds for fever. I sort of feel defeated in terms of my son's ears. And so maybe I'm desperate for him to be better and feel better and will try anything. Does anyone know anyone who has ever had a homeopathic doctor treat their children? Any experiences/opinions you can share would be helpful.
TIA!

Lisa,
I have taken Grace to see a chiropractor over the last year. She had four ear infection in as many months and there was talk of putting tubes in her ears. I told the doctor to give me a month w/the chiropractor and see where we were at.
Well, Grace never need the tubes, the chiropractor worked wonders for her. HTH

I think it is worth giving it a shot. If you are having such digestive issues then IMO (and this is strictly an opinion and not intended to cause drama or flames) the antibiotics are breaking down the natural defense in the intestines.
Who is the Homeopathic Chiro?

thank you both....dina, when I did a search for homeopathy I saw your name came up a lot and I was tempted to FM you to get your opinion. I'm glad you responded. What exactly did they do for your daughter? Do you also see a regular pediatrician as well?
MsMBV - no flames at all from me --- I do know that they hesitated giving him the augmentin because they knew it would reak havoc on his belly. They gave me something called florastor to add to his food to help with it. And we are doing a full 2 weeks course this time. I can see how what you're saying though. The chiro explained to me that docs are too quick to put kids on antibiotics for ear infections and really should wait it out a little. By giving them antibiotics too soon they're not giving their body time to build an immunity. His ears were really ugly this time around though so not sure that they would have waited. He had a 105 fever.

Also, the doctor's name is Cathy Ostroff. I live in NJ though so that probably doesn't help many people.
Actually it does help. My aunt lives in NJ & is friendly with a lot of the holistic & homeopathic community there, including homeopathic pediatric nurses, etc.
I will agree with the statement about putting kids on antibiotics too quickly. Also bear in mind that if the cause is a virus, unless it is isolated the antibiotics are probably not clearing it up.
At any rate, you should trust your gut instinct and do what you feel is right.
