Homeowners Insurance included in escrow?

my mortgage company just paid my insurance policy but i' think i'm going to change my insurance co how does this work? will they send me a refund check when I cancel my policy and start the new one?

I believe the insurance company should send you a check directly since its your name on the policy.

Then you let your bank know the details of the new policy (account number... etc). If the old policy company mailed you the check directly... I am sure the bank will want a year prepaid again.
