Re: Honda Civic vs Nissan Sentra

DH had a 06 Nissan Sentra that we just got rid of on Monday. He used it as a commuter car & he loved it.

Gas mileage: was awesome. DH commutes to NYC & NJ on a daily basis & he was doing amazing on gas (not sure of the numbers) but I think he filled up 2 times a week (whenever in NJ).

Roomy: Not really, that is the reason we got rid of it. DH wanted to have a "family" car bc when the time comes, he will need to use his car. The Sentra has a small backseat & was perfect if you were only using it for commuting & nothing else.

Trunk Space: was sufficient. We could cram a lot in there but it all depends on if your husband needs to carry bulk items with him.

Extras: DH had a 6 disc changer in the car that was handy for his commute. Otherwise, he didn't have bells & whistles, basic model

Overrall it was a great car & if we didn't need something bigger, DH would have still had it. We just got an 08 Maxima & DH is thrilled with the upgrade. He says it is a lot roomy & rides a lot softer & quieter...

Re: Honda Civic vs Nissan Sentra

I HAVE A 2 DR HONDA CIVIC. BEFORE THIS CIVIC I HAD A 4DR CIVIC.

Like it? LOVE IT!!!!
Hate it? NOTHING
Feedback? HONDAS HOLD THIER VALUE. YOU CAN HAVE THE CAR FOR LITERALLY 200,000 MILES
how's the Gas Mileage? EXCELLENT. I USED TO COMMUTE TO QUEENS EVERYDAY FOR WORK- I WAS GETTING ALMOST 30 MPG
Roomy? THE 4DR YES, THE 2 DR..IT'S A 2 DR SO NOT REALLY
Trunk space? DECENT. ESPICALLY WHEN THE SEATS GO DOWN
Pros/cons of both? NO CONS. I LOVE MY CIVIC
Extras? MY 2 DR NOW IS AN EX WITH NOTHING ADDED... MY 4DR WAS AN LX SO I HAD EVERYTHING THE EX HAD BUT NO SUNROOF AND CD PLAYER. I PUT MY OWN IN.

Thanks for respondingChat Icon

His car will be just for him to travel right now is 60 miles round trip, but in a couple months it will be 100. I do have 2 little babies, but i have my murano mostly for them.

Can carseats fit in the back though? Not caring about adults since with two carseats no one comes with us anyway :)

I'm def a nissan fan, but i know honda's good too.

So hard, they are both in the same price range too.

In the Nissan, I am sure the carseat would fit if you had to make it. It depends on how far back your DH needs the seat to drive. For us, I could only crawl on the backseat when we were cleaning it out..I could not imagine putting a carseat in there & feelin safe...

Re: Honda Civic vs Nissan Sentra

Believe it or not, I had 3 carseats in the back of my 4dr. I had my friends kids with me. They all fit. Obviously in the 2dr it is tighter, but I think with either car you will be fine. Just a matter of preference at this point :)

Re: Honda Civic vs Nissan Sentra

Both Nissan and Honda's hold their value. I just got rid of my Honda accord couple and got a Nissan Rogue. Nissan's have the CVT engines gearless transmission always smooth, no shift shock. Where as hondas engines don't have it and when your car is automatically shifting gears you get the lag, then it goes. Nissans don't do that.

My parents have an 08' maxima which I drove and then I drove on 08' Honda accord. Nissan engines feel more powerful.

So if I were buying the car I would go with the sentra

Re: Honda Civic vs Nissan Sentra

Anyone have either the Honda Civic or Nissan Sentra?

2-door Honda Civic

Like it? Love it
Hate it? Nope
Feedback? It's got over 110,000 miles on it (it's a 2002) and has needed only routine maintenance. We have a CR-V now that is our "usual" car, and the Civic is the "barn car" - used for going back and forth to the barn (26 + miles each way).
how's the Gas Mileage? Excellent - this is why we use it for going back and forth to the barn - it's a long trip and we do it frequently
Roomy? I've had 4 adults in it comfortably. My Dh is 6' and fit comfortably. I can't say that it's as room as a larger car, but for what it is, I consider it rather roomy. I moved my entire apartment from NC to NY in it (excluding furniture, of course, but including all my clothes, dishes, etc. AND horseback riding gear, which was a LOT at the time since I was a pro trainer)
Trunk space? Plenty for me. See above question. We haul horse gear around in it. We can also fit 300 pounds of horse feed easily in the trunk (and do so once a month or so!)
Pros/cons of both? I don't have any cons with the Civic. I've never had a Sentra, but my parents have had 2 Maximas. After 2 years, they had nothing but problems with both of them... They were, however, late 1990s and early 2000s models.

ETA -- Come to think of it, I took Drivers Ed in a Sentra. Granted, this was more than a decade ago... but I do remember the car fitting our teacher, plus 4 high school girls comfortable for the driving lessons. I couldn't tell you about the trunk space.
